OH SLEEP

Sleep
Oh sleep
Rescue me
Rescue me from the hands of this enemy
This enemy wrecking me
Oh sleep
Why are you suddenly a stranger
Why are you suddenly an alien to my eyes
Why watch me go through this horror every night
Why look at me as though our night contract is not binding
If only the darkness of the night would blur my thoughts
And whisper lullabies like to an infant who must sleep
Make me forget my problems
Make me forget my troubles
Make me forget my dilemmas
Oh sleep rescue me
Rescue me from the dangerous clutches of worry
The devouring teeth of anxiety
The dreadful  hands of fear
Before it destroys me
