YOU ARE AN ANSWER

Everyone is searching for answers
Solutions to the puzzles and riddles
Life throws daily
Stemming from the realities
Of living

Stepping out everyday
Brings us face to face
With this truth
That everyone has a question
Everyone is searching for an answer

Those gleaming teeth
At your appearance
Every day you show up
Doing your bits
Those breath of relieve
Every time you stretched your hands

Those smiles of happiness
Every moment you delivered
Those sincere words of appreciation
Every time you responded
Those brightened faces
Every minute you gave hope

Those needs you met
Became solutions
You became an answer
You became a life saver
You became a game changer

As the firmament illuminates
Step out devotedly
Deliberately and dutifully
Focused
Giving life your best shots
Knowing you are
An answer
To life questions everyday

Good morning

LENSES

I struggled for too long Being who I wasn’t Fitting  my circle into other people's
perfect squares -- into all their
expectations for me Their perception was all that mattered What they will see and say Their standard for success and achievement
I showed up acting who I wasn’t Like a dancing monkey under obligations to perform magic To gain their recognition and affirmations for being who I wasn’t Against being Me
I broke the chains and gained freedom the day I stopped looking at myself through other people’s lenses because I discovered people wore lenses tinted and shaded to suit them not Me

ABUSED - ‘SAYING SOCIETY’

ABUSED - ‘SAYING SOCIETY’ So loud So loud she shouted Shouting for help Every other night She is shouting I can hear her now He is hitting her again She's been hit, beat and battered Wounded inside out Lost her glow Lost herself-worth Lost her confidence Lost her smile All for what the society would say
She is grinding She is grieving She is dying Because the society won't listen to her No one wants to hear her own side of the story No one cares how she feels She has been told to stay there and fight for her home She has been admonished to stay and pray some more She has been told everything will be alright But for how long For how long She has been caged by what the society says
This 'saying society'
